Why the name?
By Patti Mohr
Mohr Media LLC is the legal entity for the publishing products. In effect, it's the publishing platform. I named it "Mohr Media" to support and honor two of my lifelong goals:
1.) Succeed in multimedia publishing.
2.) Practice forgiveness.
The "Mohr" is named after my father, Harry G. Mohr. He worked in broadcasting for most of his professional life. He spent at least 25 years visualizing story-telling and delivery of information.

He worked most of that time with a company called Taft Broadcasting and later with the local PBS Channel in Cincinnati.
I enjoyed listening to his insight and stories.
Taft Broadcasting
Charles Phelps Taft, the brother of former U.S. President William Howard Taft, founded Taft Broadcasting in 1880 when he purchased and merged two local Cincinnati newspapers.
In 1949, the Taft family purchased a television station, WKRC-TV in Cincinnati and later bought stakes affiliate radio and television stations in Columbus, Kansas City, Buffalo, and Scranton.
In the 1960s, my dad worked as WKRC's news director and later program director. I'm pretty sure it was the prime of his career. He covered local and national news, worked with anchors like Nick Clooney, and developed an expertise in broadcasting in its early years.
The stories he told about covering the 1964 and 1968 conventions were filled with the excitement of that time.
Career and Human Fragility
Like many people do, my father underestimated his own talents. While I was growing up, he worked two or three extra jobs. Rather than focus all his energy on excelling in broadcasting at PBS (like he did with Taft), he moonlighted in real estate, property management, and insurance sales. His desk was filled and so was his energy. His marriage to my mom didn't last.
What's worse, my father was deeply wounded in ways I alone witnessed. Trauma from having served in the Pacific during World War II haunted him. And he had other burdens that kept him trapped.
Unfortunately, those wounds were deep, and they manifested in ways that hurt me just as deeply. And that brings me to my second lifelong goal: forgiveness.
For it is in forgiving and accepting forgiveness that we become free. And healing is a part of life.
Success Follows Pursuit Of Passion
Thankfully, my father shared his love of broadcasting with me. I value the relationship I had with him. We shared an interest in intellectual discovery. He supported my high school documentary projects and introduced me to floor producing during the station's live auction when I was in my early twenties.
And perhaps today, he is helping Mohr Media make the right connections from the other side.
